Dr. L.Fara
established an organic link between the solar energy conversion and
synergetics: synergetics was used as a methodological tool for
development of fundamental aspects of solar energy conversion.
Prof. L. Fara published more than 180 papers and 14 books in the
country and abroad. He was awarded the Romanian Academy Prize "Dragomir
Hurmuzescu" for his contribution in solar energy conversion.
Prof. L. Fara is full member of several national and international
scientific societies: Romanian Engineers Association, Romanian
Scientists Association, European Physical Society (EPS), European
Astronomy Society (EAS), International Solar Energy Society (ISES),
International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE), European
Optical Society (EOS), International Society for Radiation Physics (ISRP).
He is member of the New York Academy of Sciences.
Prof. L. Fara is member of the Advisory Committee of EOS and member
of the Board of the IGPD-EPS (International Group for Physics and
Development). He is member of the International Steering Committee
of the World Renewable Energy Congress.
Prof. L. Fara is chairman of the Romanian Solar Energy Society (SRES)-
Romania ISES Section. He is Editor-in-Chief of the International
Journal "Solar Energy for Sustainable Development "
(published by SRES) and of SRES Newsletters (in Romanian).
Prof. L. Fara had an important contribution (as chairman of the
organizing committee) to the following scientific events: National
Conference on Solar Energy (Bucharest-Romanian Academy, November
11-13, 1992), International Workshop on Dynamic Systems and their
Applications in Solar Energy and Ecology (Eforie-Black Sea Coast,
August 30-31, 1993), International Workshop on RES and Sustainable
Development (Tulcea-Danube Delta, September 15-17, 1994),
International Workshop on RES Strategy in Romania
(Bucharest-Romanian Academy, October 10, 1995), etc.
Prof. L. Fara held invited lectures as visiting professor at
Technical University in Thessaloniki, Greece (April 2000), Technical
University in Porto, Portugal (May 2000), Technical University in
Vigo, Spain (October 2000). He was visiting researchers at
Plataforma Solar de Almeria, Spain (PSA) in October 2001.
He is also involved in European Commission projects within the
National (Romanian) Agency for Renewable Energy (NARE). He is
president of NARE; this organization is interested in consulting
activities in RES and Environmental isues. In 1995-1996 Prof. L.
Fara coordinated the Romanian experts team who contributed within
NARE (local partner) to the PHARE Energy Project " Strategy on
RES in Romania", as well as to the TERES II- Romania Project (ALTENER
Programme) on
" European Renewable Energy Study ". In August 2001 he
successfully concluded the Leonardo da Vinci Project
"Vocational Training in Sustainable Energy Technologies ".
In 2003 he started to work for several projects financed by the
European Commission like: "PV-NAS-NET" within FP5
Programme, Energy Training for Europe (TREN) within Leonardo da
Vinci Programme a.s.o.
