Born 24 March 1935. Graduated in 1959 from D.I. Mendeleev Russian Chemical Technological Univ. of Moscow and PhD (thesis on synthesis and study of properties of some hydrides) in 1967. Author of more than 220 scientific papers including published in Int. Jour. of Hydrogen Energy. Member of editorial board of “Nuclear-hydrogen energy and technology” issued in the USSR from 1976 to 1986. Participator of some World Hydrogen Energy Conferences held by International Association for Hydrogen Energy as well as Hypothesis IV.

Born in Venice, Italy, on September 18, 1958. He received the Doctoral Degree with honours in Electrical Engineering in December 1982 from the University of Padova (Italy) and the postgraduate Diploma degree in Plasma and Thermonuclear Fusion Engineering from the University of Padova. in 1985.
He joined the National Research Council (CNR) in 1984, where he worked on the design of RFX, a toroidal magnetic-confinement device for controlled Fusion Research, based on the Reversed Field Pinch concept.
In April 1990 he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering of the University of Padova as Research Assistant.
In July 1997 Dr. Chitarin was been appointed Leader of the Magnet System Group of the RFX Experiment, and in Nov. 1998 he joined the Dept. of Management and Engineering of the University of Padova as Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering.

Main fields of interest: Magnet design, operation and developments; Electromagnetic analyses and simulations, magnetic measurements, halo current measurements; Industrial application of plasma science; Application of Fuel Cells for distributed power generation

Graduated (Mechanical Engineering) from Univ. of Pisa. Assistant Prof. and Research Collaborator Technician at the Inst. of Machine, Univ. of Pisa; Associate Prof. of "Direct Energy Conversion" (1983-1988) at Fac. of Engineering of Univ. of Pisa and of "Turbomachinery Design" at Fac. of Engineering of Univ. of Cassino. Since 1994 he is Full Professor of "Energy Conversion" at Fac. of Engineering of Univ. of Cassino. He is reviewer of Int. J. Hydrogen Energy and author of scientific papers (reduction of consumption and emissions in ICE, applications of fluid dynamics, energy conversion with non-conventional systems - fuel cells, MPD -combined power plants, hydrogen utilization as a fuel.
