We are working hard to reschedule the May 2020 event as a on-line event. New dates will be announced once confirmed. Thank you for understanding.
We all are experiencing the serious implications of Covid-19 around the world. Also, South Africa has gone in a complete lockdown to fight the spread of the virus. We, the organisers of this year’s conference together with the Series Chair, have come to the unfortunate decision to cancel the upcoming event in Cape Town. We apologise for the long time it took for us to make this decision, it was our least favourite option to take. We have explored all avenues to postpone the event to another date and had extended conversations with the booked venue and the 2021 organisers.
As HYPOTHESIS is an annual symposium, postponing the Cape Town event to 2021 is not possible without postponing all subsequent events as well and this did not give a favourable outcome. With all uncertainty of the Covid-19 pandemic timeline, the risk will be too high to postpone to any date in the next few months.
To make this year’s event still possible, we decided to propose an online conference format. This is a great challenge, but we are confident that this is the best option and that the conference will be a success. To be sure to organise the conference in the best possible way, probably the dates will be moved to the beginning of June and the conference will last six days without parallel sessions. We will communicate more information as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.
